Healthy Schools Network

The Healthy Schools Network aims to support schools to improve the health and well-being of pupils across Leicester City. The network supports and enables schools to share good practice and learn from each other on this vital aspect of the wider curriculum. It consists of a series of events hosted and led by volunteer schools focusing on issues related to the importance of mental and physical health.

SDSA's Role

The SDSA has established a school-to-school network for health and well-being support to schools after a high demand was expressed in April 2016 survey results. The survey was carried out following, central government funding for a National Healthy Schools’ Programme was withdrawn in 2011 and City Council funding ceased in 2014.

Project Impact

After the success of the Launch event in October 2016 the Healthy Schools Network is forecast to become a great support network for schools in promoting the importance of health and well-being.
