School Leadership Succession Planning

School Leadership Succession Planning

These projects are being coordinated by the National College for Teaching & Leadership and delivered through Teaching Schools to build leadership capacity within schools.

Leadership opportunities include specific programmes for Women and BME aspirant school leaders. All of the projects have been underpinned by a self evaluation framework for succession planning that has been created by leaders within the region and made available as an online tool to help schools.

SDSA's Role

The SDSA has served as regional co-ordinator for these projects, working with local authorities to plan their local actions and supporting the regional development of the online self-evaluation tool.

Project Impact

Project objectives have been met and the numbers of trained future leaders has increased.  The web enabled self-evaluation tool is found by schools to be very useful.
