Loving Laughing returns for Leicester Comedy Fest!

20/01/2017 13:43

Leicester’s Comedy Festival has a long tradition of collaborating with organisations to encourage wide participation in the annual event. In 2016 the festival hosted the ‘Loving Laughing’ project, in partnership with the British Council which won the main “child centred teaching” award at the UK eTwinning Awards.

This year, the SDSA is working with the team behind the festival to produce “Leicester's Puntastic”, a series of after- school creative word play and joke writing sessions which will enable pupils to enhance their language and communication skills, and help them to increase their confidence and self-esteem.

Professional comedians will be visiting the 12 city primary schools to mentor and train the pupil's in joke telling. The pupils' will then create their own jokes in preparation for "gag battles", where they will compete with partner schools for a place in the final three. The finale will take place at The Y, East Street, Leicester during the Leicester Comedy Festival where one school will be announced as the winner of the Leciester Joke Battle!

Leicester Comedy Festival 2017 will take place from 8-26 February and full programme details are available by visiting www.comedy-festival.co.uk.
